Change in Iraq: A Quest for Alternative Modernities (Part 1)
In this piece of work, Jérôme Chapuisat, analyses Iraq’s sociopolitical landscape through a multicultural lens. He challenges misconceptions about Iraq’s origins as a newly and artificially created state and emphasises its deep historical roots. Chapuisat argues that Iraq’s numerous crises are less about ethnic and religious diversity but more about the political manipulation of these divisions, compounded by economic inequalities. He advocates for a multicultural political project to foster inclusive citizenship, moving beyond sectarianism and inequality.
