The Iraqi Supreme Court‘s decision to overturn the Kurdish oil and gas law on February 16, 2022, was no coincidence. Beyond a long-standing dispute that has never really been settled, one can read between the lines that this decision is the result of a struggle for influence and power in the midst of the current Iraqi political stalemate and more recently, the blocking of the presidential election.
